Kirkpatrick's Training Evaluation Model consists of four levels, each designed to assess different aspects of training effectiveness. The level that corresponds to cognitive tests given to students is the Learning level. This level focuses on the extent to which participants acquire the intended knowledge, skills, and attitudes as a result of the training program.

Cognitive tests are specifically designed to evaluate the learners' understanding and retention of the material presented during the training. By assessing what learners know before and after the training, instructors can determine how much learning has occurred, and identify areas that may require further reinforcement or review. This measurement is critical for assessing the effectiveness of instructional methods and the relevance of the content delivered.

In contrast, the other levels focus on different aspects, such as behavioral changes in the workplace (Behavior), the overall impact of training on organizational goals (Results), and the participants' immediate reactions and satisfaction with the training experience (Reaction). Each of these levels provides valuable insights, but it is the Learning level that directly correlates with cognitive tests, as it specifically addresses knowledge acquisition.
